Increasing of container cargos transshipment values up to 350 thousand TEU per year was stipulated by the project of JSC “Novoroslesexport” container terminal development. After realization of this project container terminal has the following technical features:

• total terminal area - 14 hectares (territory of cargo area 2, 5 and 7 of the port);
  
• capacity of synchronous storage warehouse –
  10 260 TEU;
  
• length of moorage wall – 566 m;
  
• depth by quayside – 14,5 m;
  
• vessel capacity – up to 5 000 TEU;
  
• railway yard of 56 railway platforms.

In the process of development existing container terminal worked in customary mode.

The project realization was carried out step by step within 2 years and allowed being up at the project capacity on containers transshipment up to 350 000 TEU per year.

In order to reach the goal under project realization the following activities were carried out:

• repair of waterside constructions (berths 28, 28А, 29 and 30) and extension of container terminal moorage wall up to 566 m;
• dredging of harbor bottom in order to provide reception of vessels up to 5 000 TEU;
• creation of the infrastructure providing top container lines level of handling in the volume of 350 000 TEU per year;
• providing speedy handling of containers at the terminal equipped with up-to-date cargo gear including specialized quayside container cranes;
• optimization of employment of the JSC “Novoroslesexport” territory and rendering of storage areas capable for synchronous storage of up to 10 260 TEU;
• alteration of technological schemes of container storage in stacks;
• automatization of terminal operation with up-to-date software.

1. Large territory of the terminal with areas for containers storing (up to 14 ha) and this gave possibility:
   

   - increase the capacity of synchronous storage from 2 400 TEU to 10 260 TEU;
   - provide longer period of container storage (up to 10 days) than may be suggested by concurrent companies without any delay in cargo turnover;
   - render additional services such as container re-stuffing;

2. Possibility of storage and transshipment of containers with dangerous goods observing international restrictions of IMDG making it possible for the customers to perform handling and transshipment of all types of goods within the same terminal;
   
   
3. Availability of own railway yard, capable for reception of the whole standard container train (about 56 r/w platforms);
   
   
4. High quality of service meeting international standards and requirements of top container lines – potential customers of container terminal.
   This advantage is provided by:

   - guarantee of speedy handling of containers in port by means of modern lifting cargo gear;
   - application of effective logistic schemes within the terminal making it possible to reduce terms of cargo handling;
   - automatization of terminal operation with up-to-date software.

5. In the period of building the existing terminal didn’t stop working. This allowed keeping our clients and attending new ones for a short period of time.
